This weekend saw Poly multi-sport athletes competing in Leeds, and further West in North Shropshire at Alderford Lake.

Saturday was Leeds and the Aquathlon and Sprint Triathlon.

Training partners Roger Makepeace and Richard Johnstone took on the Aquathlon and it couldn’t have been closer with Roger coming home in 44:49 (1st in AG) and Richard just 10 seconds behind (2nd in AG). I bet that was an interesting foot race.

4 Ladies took part in the sprint triathlon and first home was Becky Coleman (1:28:58) who finished 2nd in her age group, next was Tina Diddee, 6th in the same AG. Catherine Dotchin was next home and Julie Herdman-Burns rounded up the ladies team.

Sunday at Leeds saw the Standard Distance Triathlon. 3 NSP competitors in this one.

Graham Dotchin was first back in 2:36:24 just 59 seconds ahead of Stephen Nicholson . Steve’s wife Alison Nicholson was the sole Poly lady in the longer distance event and she completed the hilly course in a very respectable 3:11:22

Sunday also saw racing at Alderford Lake.

Clare Winter took on the long distance Aquathlon. This event was made up of a 1.2 mile swim and a 6.5 mile run. Clare finished 8th overall and 2nd in her AG in a time of 1:38:36.

And last but certainly not least we have Peter Atkinson. Peter joined the ranks of the Ironman distance triathletes by completing the multi-lap course in 15:18:50. A fantastic achievement for Peter as it is for anyone but I’ll leave it there for now as Peter is going to write up his experience of the day,and hopefully the build up, in his own words and post it on here for us all to enjoy.

Congratulations and well done to everyone who competed and represented NSP in multi-sports so well over the weekend.

Once again, if anyone would like to join Peter and share their race day experience, good or bad, then please pen a few words, or even a lot of words, for us all to enjoy.
