North Shields Poly has seen two of the track and field athletes compete in their first England vests this week, both heading to Wales to compete on the international stage. James Wordsworth, coached by Neil Ellerby, achieved gold at the Schools International Athletics Board with a Personal Best throw of 52.27m in the U17 men’s discus and Stella Perrett, coached by Chris Mole, competed in the U20 women’s 200m and 4x100m in Cardiff at the Welsh Athletics International.

Both athletes and coaches have shown what focus and determination can achieve, with both training alongside school exams to gain their vests. As a club, we are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing them progress into the future. This shows that the future of track and field is bright at North Shields Poly.
