A small but select group of 9 men and 10 women turned up to run the Quayside 5K.  The race route is along the Quayside on the Newcastle side from the Pitcher and Piano.  The turn is somewhere in Scotswood and the route takes you back down the Quayside and over the Millennium Bridge to finish in Baltic Square.  If you can avoid the numerous pieces of street furniture along the way (thankfully taped up and marked)  it’s a fast, flat race.

First Poly athlete in for the club was Michael Dawson (16.30) followed by Scott Ellis (16.38).  Guy Bracken, first in his age category was next (16.45).  Darren Suleman (19.42) was 2nd in his age category, and Jason Stirland was 6th in his.  For the women, Charlotte Penfold  was first Poly woman in (17.38) and was 5th in her age category.  Carla Maley was next in for the Poly (18.58) and was 4th in her age category.  Suzanne Thew was  2nd in her age category (20.01) with Katherine Davis 3rd in hers (20.13).  Alison Cummings and Noreen Rees were 2nd and 3rd in their age categories.
